2010 updates of the kids

The kids have been keeping us busy, as usual. :) Here are just a few things that they have been up to...

Daniel:

  • can spell his name - sometimes forgets a letter but he's pretty good.
  • is a whiz on the apooder - he loves his computer time and has caught on really quickly to the games at www.cbc.ca/kids and http://www.playhousedisney.com/.
  • can count to 29 (and higher, with help) and recognizes all his letters.
  • is getting very independant - can dress himself, zip his coat, pour his own cereal.
  • loves colouring in his colouring books and is a really good colourer, too.
  • still loves all things superhero, Hotwheels and Lego.
  • is still almost impossible to take a natural photo - he always has to make a funny face!

Adam:

  • is talking up a storm! He went from the occasional word here and there to speaking in 2-3 word sentences. Usually, though, each word is a sentence on its own. "Me? Go? Down? Stairs?" I can't even keep track of all his words anymore because there are so many. Some cute ones are Baby Fwawah (Sarah), Danno (Daniel), Bwama and Bwampa (Gramma & Grampa - both sets), Mini Eats (Mini Wheats - his favourite breakfast food), wagga (water)
  • is this close to being potty trained but is still too stubborn to actually do it. He does let us know immediately after he's gone, so hopefully he'll clue in very soon.
  • absolurely loved Christmas and is always talking about Santa, Santa songs, Santa lights, Santa trees. I guess, to him, Santa and Christmas are one in the same.
  • knows most of his colours (wed, boo, been, lellow (which means yellow and white), pink
  • can (kind of) count to 11 - one, two, fee, nine, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, lemon, eight, nine, ten, lemon, eight!
  • loves to do zippers, snaps and buttons (bunnons, as he calls them), especially those on her baby sister's clothes!
  • still loves trains and also loves to play Lego and superheroes with Daniel, especially Bit-Mih (Batman).

Sarah:

  • is still only 8lbs 7oz. She may be tiny one but she's tough! She's now on Ranitidine (Zantac) for reflux. We're fortifying her formula (slightly more powder to slightly less water) and, each time she breastfeeds, she gets to also have 0.5mL of canola oil. Yummy, canola oil! She'll be packing on the pounds in no time! So far, we've found no reason for her not to gain weight. It's not so great now but I'm sure she'll appreciate it when she's older. :)
  • is very alert these days and is starting to have "conversations" with people. She'll look you straight in the eyes and say "ah-goo." She also has specific cries for different feelings. When she's tired, her cry sounds like a gasp; when she's really mad (usually when she's getting her diaper changed), it sounds like "ging ging ging."
  • loves to smile and laugh, especially at her crazy brothers, her dad...and at that cute baby in the mirror, too.
  • has the cutest hair! She has a funny little tuft of hair growing at the top of her head. Luckily, the rest of her hair is growing in nicely now.
  • loves to be snuggled and cuddled. If you wrap her up in a blanket, she almost immediately falls asleep. I think she may be one who ends up having a blankie.

Now that the holidays are over and we're going to fewer doctor's appointments, I'll hopefully be able to update the blog a little more often. I'll make it one of my New Year's Resolutions. :)

Loved the haircuts!(Sarah will start a new trend for sure) There are no cuter kids on earth in my opinion! And the list of accomplishments is amazing - thanks for the updates - everyone is changing so quickly and we miss so much so thank you Leah for keeping us in the loop.
