A Day Out with Thomas

When we heard that Thomas the Train would be coming through Squamish, we knew we had to get tickets for our train lover, Adam.  So we, along with Gramma and Grampa, travelled the 1.5 hours to the train museum.  Of course, along the way, our train guy fell asleep!  So he spent the first while dozing in the stroller while Daniel checked everything out.  Luckily, Adam soon woke up and didn't miss much.  We toured an old mail car and the kids got to write letters to Thomas and mail them.  They jumped around in a bounce house and played on a wooden train.  Then it was time for our ride on the real Thomas!

Unfortunately, the ride wasn't all that exciting.  We rode through a bit of forest and a bit of industrial land and that was about it.  There was supposed to be entertainment on the ride.  The entertainment consisted of three not very good clowns.  One came up with her feather duster and half-heartedly dusted the kids.  As she was walking away, Daniel said, "Well, that wasn't very funny!"  He said what we were all thinking!

After our ride, we went to go say hi to Thomas and get our picture taken with him.

After lunch, the boys did a little panning for gold.  They only found two teeny-tiny specks of "gold," but they were quite happy with it.

Next, we headed inside and met Sir Topham Hatt, the station master.

I'm not sure Adam really liked hugging him, though.  He looks a little smothered.  :)

There was some wooden train tracks to play with and some Thomas Lego.  The boys would have stayed there for a couple of hours.

It was a fun way to spend a day.  I don't know if it was completely worth the $21 we paid per ticket.  But the kids enjoyed it and we had a good time.  And it was an excuse to go up to Squamish and visit Laura and Jason.  After hanging out with Thomas and his friends from the island of Sodor, we went to Laura and Jason's baseball game and back to their house for a yummy barbecue.  Everyone had a great time.
